Jerro Delivers Gorgeous, Emotion-Fueled Soundscapes on ‘Chromatic’

Jerro proves he’s coming into his own as a producer with the release of his sophomore album on This Never Happened, Chromatic.

Jerro has solidified his place in the landscape of the progressive and melodic house scene. From releasing tunes that stir emotions and make you want to dance simultaneously to touring the globe twice over and taking the stage at festivals to sweep fans away to a different state of mind, he’s left no stone unturned on his rise to the top. Now, he’s adding even more to his legacy with the release of his sophomore album on This Never Happened, Chromatic.

Lead single “Forever,” along with follow-up tracks “Fever” with Running Touch, “How Does It Feel” with Kasbo, and “Love Like Yours” with Origami Human, set the tone for what would arrive on Chromatic. Each song offered a glimpse at the production prowess that Jerro brings, while layering in emotion-fueled vocals and more along the way. Yet there’s so much to explore on Chromatic.

In The Cold” opens the album as soft, pensive tones sweep over the ears, refreshing the soul as the powerful vocal performance from Familiar Faces begins to creep in. It’s a fantastic way to introduce Chromatic to those who look to embark on a start-to-finish journey, as it opens the doors for other stunning vocal-driven tunes like “Higher Up” with Lizzy Land and “Hear Me Now” with Lyrah later on. All of these tunes pack their own emotional punch with them and will stay entangled in your mind long after you’re done listening.

Jerro also displays his solo production style throughout Chromatic. “I Need You” marks the third chapter of this story but is one of the true standouts with its repeated vocal and chord progression that commands the mind. Others, like “Marooned” and the aforementioned “Forever” carry similar elements along with them yet find a way to be dynamic soundscapes of their own, uplifting the soul with each passing second.

One song that does offer more explosive energy than the rest is “Right In Front Of Me,” which leans into the progressive realm for a perfect peak time moment. Its position after the light breaks, piano notes, and overall airy soundscape of the interlude get listeners ready for the second half of the album in a way in the best way possible, highlighting how pointed each step of this marvelous journey is from Jerro.

Jerro brings his Chromatic Tour to Calgary on Saturday September 21st with Cary Chang & Binks (Vancouver). Tickets on sale now.
